Make Sure Your Grill’s Propane Cylinder Is Certified Before You Get Cooking This Spring!

Checking propane grill cylinder

Posted: May 9, 2018

One of the great signs of spring’s arrival here in North Carolina is the mouthwatering smell of food grilling on a Saturday afternoon. Yum!

But before you fire up the barbecue for some safe, healthy grilling, it’s a good idea to check the certification date on your propane cylinder to make sure it’s up-to-date (in case you didn’t know, all grill cylinders require recertification 12 years from the date they were manufactured, and every 5 years after that).

To recertify your propane barbecue tank cylinder, just follow these easy steps:

  1. Look for your tank’s certification sticker; check the date to see if it is current.
  2. If it is not, contact us to schedule your recertification appointment.
  3. Bring your tank to us (safely!); we’ll test and recertify it, indicating the inspection date and recertification date on a sticker (your tank inspection is good for five years). Turnaround on a tank inspection is usually 24 hours.
  4. Pick up your tank and get grilling!

If your certification is current but you need more propane, we can help you there, too, with expert propane cylinder refills at one of our convenient locations in Smithfield, Newton Grove, Fayetteville, Clinton, Wilmington and Mt.Olive.
